Psalm 2

ΙΝΑΤΙ ἐφρύαξαν ἔθνη, καὶ λαοὶ ἐμελέτησαν κενά;Why were the nations arrogant, and why did the people conspire in vain?
(διάψαλμα).The kings of the earth stood by, and the rulers gathered in the same place against the Lord and against his Christ. (Diapsalma.)
Διαῤῥήξωμεν τοὺς δεσμοὺς αὐτῶν καὶ ἀποῤῥίψωμεν ἀφ᾿ ἡμῶν τὸν ζυγὸν αὐτῶν.“Let us break their bonds and let us cast off their yoke from us.”
The one dwelling in the heavens shall laugh at them, and the Lord shall mock them.
Then he shall speak to them in his anger, and in his wrath he shall trouble them.
᾿Εγὼ δὲ κατεστάθην βασιλεὺς ὑπ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ Σιὼν ὄρος τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ“I was made King by him upon Sion, his holy hill,
Κύριος εἶπε πρός με· υἱός μου εἶ σύ, ἐγὼ σήμερον γεγέννηκά σε.declaring the decree of the Lord. The Lord said to me, ‘You are my Son. Today I have begotten you.’
Ask from me, and I shall give to you nations for your inheritance and your possession the ends of the earth.
You shall tend them with an iron rod, as a potter’s vessel you shall shatter them.’”
And now, O Kings, listen. Be instructed, all those who judge the earth:
Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice in him with trembling!
Lay hold of instruction, lest the Lord be made angry and lest you perish from the upright path.
When his wrath is kindled in haste, blessed are all those who have placed their trust in him.
