ΙΝΑΤΙ ἐφρύαξαν ἔθνη, καὶ λαοὶ ἐμελέτησαν κενά; | Why were the nations arrogant, and why did the people conspire in vain? |
| The kings of the earth stood by, and the rulers gathered in the same place against the Lord and against his Christ. (Diapsalma.) |
| “Let us break their bonds and let us cast off their yoke from us.” |
| The one dwelling in the heavens shall laugh at them, and the Lord shall mock them. |
| Then he shall speak to them in his anger, and in his wrath he shall trouble them. |
᾿Εγὼ δὲ κατεστάθην βασιλεὺς ὑπ᾿ αὐτοῦ ἐπὶ Σιὼν ὄρος τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ | “I was made King by him upon Sion, his holy hill, |
| declaring the decree of the Lord. The Lord said to me, ‘You are my Son. Today I have begotten you.’ |
| Ask from me, and I shall give to you nations for your inheritance and your possession the ends of the earth. |
| You shall tend them with an iron rod, as a potter’s vessel you shall shatter them.’” |
| And now, O Kings, listen. Be instructed, all those who judge the earth: |
| Serve the Lord with fear and rejoice in him with trembling! |
| Lay hold of instruction, lest the Lord be made angry and lest you perish from the upright path. |
| When his wrath is kindled in haste, blessed are all those who have placed their trust in him. |
