2022 Vision Casting

When I first began to keep my own index of Orthodox saints in English and then had the idea to build this website around it, I knew that the project would be ongoing. Then the ideas just kept coming. Over time, my plan is to establish Read the Saints as a hub for multiple projects built around the core idea I stated in the introductory post:

To provide the most comprehensive and user-friendly directory of Eastern Orthodox saints’ works in English, whose purpose is to promote daily immersion in the apostolic tradition.

Here are some of the ideas I have to both build this website and extend its reach in 2022.

1. Lectionary Podcast. There are of course multiple apps that give the references for the Church’s daily cycle of readings, but there are none that I have found that allow Orthodox Christians to listen to them. I would like to begin to meet this need.

2. Blog “Fragments” Series. To build the Texts portion of this website, I would like to begin taking small paragraphs to translate and to index.

3. Giveaways. I can’t think of a better way to show that I take the core idea of this website seriously than by providing books. So that’s what I’d like to do as much as possible. In particular, I hope to establish yearly giveaways for Lent and the Nativity of Christ.

4. Become a Logos Affiliate. I have used Logos Bible Software for several years, and I would like to make a point of blogging about how to use this software to read and to study the writings of the saints. By becoming an affiliate, I can allow interested readers the opportunity to receive resources and the software at a discount. In order to do this, this website needs to sustain at least 1,000 page views per month. I believe that this will be an easy number to reach.

5. Publish Out-of-Print Works. There are some translations of the saints that either have not renewed their copyrights, or else are public domain. I would like to begin to re-print these sorts of works.

Clearly, there is a lot of work that can be done! I’m looking forward to serving the Church, with God’s help.

Through the prayers of our holy Fathers, Lord Jesus Christ our God, have mercy on us, and save us.
